A woman is fighting for life and her “husband” injured after a double stabbing at their home. The victims were rushed to hospital following the knife attack in Salford, Greater Manchester, at 9.30pm last night.
The woman in her 50s is fighting for life following the incident in the Kersal area of the city. A man, believed to be the woman’s husband, was also injured in the rampage at a house in Eastcombe Avenue. A man, 20, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Police have closed off part of the street while forensics scour the scene.
Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “Shortly before 9.30pm on Wednesday 7 March 2018 police were called to reports of a stabbing at a property on Eastcombe Avenue in Salford. On arrival, officers discovered a woman in her 50s who had suffered serious stab wounds. A man in his 50s had also suffered a number of slash wounds. Both currently remain in hospital and the woman is in a critical condition. A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody for questioning.”
