A British dad has died aged 36 during a flight with his wife and two young kids as they made a “long-awaited” trip to see family in the UK.
Simon Gilby was onboard Emirates Flight EK413 with his spouse Helen, daughter Chloe, four, and two-year-old son Angus when he passed away.
The plane, which had set off from Christchurch, New Zealand, was met by medical professionals when it landed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
However, Simon, a chef, had tragically already lost his life.
His cause of death remains unknown.
In a heartbreaking tribute, Simon’s widow said he was a “devoted” dad to their children, who were on the aircraft with them at the time of the tragedy.
Helen, a business owner, said: “Simon was my soulmate and he was an amazing, devoted, loving father to our young children.
“I am beyond grateful for the love and support we have been given.”
