A dad battered his baby daughter because she was “fussy” and he had wanted a boy instead, police have said.
Dr Jason Bittner, 33, has been charged with assault and endangering children.
Police in Mason, Ohio, say he caused his three-month-old daughter brain injuries and more than a dozen fractures during an attack last month.
The respected chiropractor is married to wife Casey and the couple have two daughters.
The youngest was born last November and the Bittners had posted a photo of them smiling in hospital holding their new baby online.
But prosecutor David Fornshell told Fox 19 that Bittner was in fact unhappy about the new addition, having wanted a son.
“He was frankly resentful of that fact and also was very intolerant of the fact that she fussed,” Mr Fornshell said.
Police launched an investigation after Casey Bittner brought the child to the hospital saying she had had an “accident”.
Medics were not happy with her version of events and Dr Bittner was arrested at his practice last week.
