Maryland School SHOOTING: Mass Casualty Incident Declared At Great Mills High School

A GUNMAN has opened fire on students at a school in Maryland, US. Great Mills High School in Lexington Park has declared a “mass casualty incident”.

Several people have been reported injured inside the school at St Mary’s County.

The gunman is still be “at large” according to officials and the school has been locked down.

The first shots were reported at around 8am local time.

Great Mills is about two hours southeast of the Washing DC area.

The school district said: “The school is on lockdown. The sheriff’s office is on the scene; additional information to follow.”

Parents have been urged not to call the school but to head to nearby Leonardtown High School.

Julie Yingling, a spokeswoman for the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, said officials “have a shooting at Great Mills High School”.
