Declan Donnelly announced the happy news that he and wife Ali Astall are expecting their first child together over the weekend.
The 42-year-old TV star’s announcement was billed as a silver lining during a hard time for him and presenting partner Ant McPartlin, after the troubled star was charged with drink driving last week.
However, it seems that the news is a bittersweet affair for Ant, as while he is ‘thrilled’ for his best friend the news has also come as a blow because the Geordie star always dreamed of starting a family too.
Currently in rehab following his relapse, sources close to the star, also 42, told the Daily Mirror: ‘Ant is thrilled for Dec and Ali but the news sparked other emotions because he has always wanted children.’
‘There is some heartache and it is a bittersweet moment. Ant has gone into rehab and has recently split from his wife Lisa, so his life is just not the same as the one Ant has right now.’
It comes shortly after his best pal and co-star took to their joint social media account to confirm his happy news.
Tweeting a message to their followers on Sunday evening, after the news had seemingly leaked ‘a little earlier’ than he and Ali had planned, Dec said: ‘Just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely messages.
