Her Majesty may have to be neutral and inscrutable in nearly all matters, but hey, she’s still only human.
And, just like the rest of us, when it comes to her family, she’ll have her favourites.
Now, when it comes to her kids, it’s widely thought that Prince Edward is said to be her golden boy.
But where the Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan Markle are concerned, while it may have recently appeared that she had a favourite with a recent declaration, there’s actually an explanation for it.
Here’s what happened.
Here’s the declaration of consent for the marriage between Prince Harry and Meghan. that got people wondering if the Queen was playing favourites…
It reads: “I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council.”
Awww. So far, so sweet.
Then it got compared to one she made when Kate and William got married.
They were referred to as: “Our Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales, K.G. and Our Trusty and Well-beloved Catherine Elizabeth Middleton.”
So while Harry and William got the same level of affection from their grandmother, the same can’t be said for their partners.
People were quick to notice.
I personally think the Queen doesn’t know Meghan well enough to use the same words than she used with Kate

When she signed William's and Kate's she referred to Kate as "…Our trusty and Well-beloved Catherine…" She paid no compliment of that sort to Meghan. The difference says a lot about how both couples conducted their courtship and how the Queen feels about the new bride-to-be!
