A 105-year-old mobility scooter user has died after being struck while crossing the road by an 87-year-old driver. The man was riding across the B2102 Bell Farm Road in Uckfield, East Sussex, when his scooter was hit by a blue Ford KA on Saturday.
The centenarian received CPR at the scene but was pronounced dead shortly after ambulance crews arrived just after 1.44pm on Saturday. The 87-year-old driver of the Ford was uninjured in the collision.
Police are appealing for witnesses or dash cam footage of the incident. The force said: ‘A 105-year-old man has sadly died following a collision in Uckfield.
‘He had been crossing the B2102 Bell Farm Road, east of the junction with Brookside, in his mobility scooter when he was struck by a blue Ford KA.’
