A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Alfie Lewis, 15, who was stabbed to death outside a primary school. West Yorkshire Police confirmed the unnamed youth has also been charged with possession of a knife following the fatal stabbing on Tuesday in Leeds. He will appear at Leeds Magistrates court today.
Alfie was believed to have been picking up a friend’s little brother from St Margaret’s Primary School when the attack occurred. Parents who had arrived at the school to pick up children tended to the teenager until paramedics arrived. He was then rushed to hospital, but soon died after suffering critical injuries. His family has now issued a statement about the youngster, who was nicknamed ‘Uncle Alfie,’ and they said: ‘I haven’t got the words to describe how devastated we all are.
‘Alfie you were one-in-a-million, so funny and an all-round entertainer with your rapping and dancing feet. You had the biggest heart and took care of everybody around you. ‘You will never know just how much you are loved by family and friends, and you will always be our Uncle Alfie. We love you so much.
‘Nothing will ever be the same without you. You will shine in the sky, as bright as you did in all our lives. I love you more than words can say, and you will always be with us forever. Love you Uncle Alfie.’ A 16-year-old boy was also arrested but was released without charge.
