Huge fire at Brit Zoo as fire crews battle to control blaze

A blaze has broken out at Fife Zoo this afternoon with fire crews currently at the scene.

Four fire engines raced to the zoo after the alarm was raised shortly after 12:32pm on Sunday, July 18.

Dramatic photos from the scene show ferocious flames and smoke billowing from the zoo in Cupar. 

Scots have taken to social media with concerns for the animals. 

It comes just over a year on from a devastating fire that ripped through buildings at the zoo after starting in the soft play area. 

One said: “Aw no not again! Hope everyone is okay and able to get the animals to safely.”

Another added: “Another fire. Hope the animals are safe n no one is hurt.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We were mobilised to a fire at Fife Animal Park Zoo, in Cupar, at 12:32pm. There are currently four fire appliances at the scene.”

No one is thought to have been injured in the fire.
