Boy, 3, found dead with nail through skull and eyes and genitals removed as dad held for murder

A TODDLER was found dead with a nail through his head and his eyes and genitals removed in a shocking mutilation murder in South Africa.

The three-year-olds body was found by family members in Thembalihle, in Estcourt, on November 27, the day after he went missing in his father’s care.

The child’s father, Themba Majozi, 38, has since been arrested.

It’s alleged that the toddler was at his grandmother’s house when a male known to her went into the house and took him at 9 am.

After she returned from work the following day and found the child had still not returned, she questioned the man about his whereabouts, but he became violent, according to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala.

Concerned family members then began to search for the missing child, before they found his maimed body in “a terrible state dumped in the bush”.

“A nail was driven through his skull and his eyes and genitals were removed,” according to a statement issued by KwaZulu-Natal social development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza.

“Police must quickly conclude the investigation and arrest the perpetrators involved in this murder of an innocent child.”

Majozi, the child’s father, was arrested for murder and the missing body parts were found in his home.

There was not yet a clear motive for the killing, as the suspect was due to appear before Estcourt Magistrates Court on November 30.

It was reportedly postponed until December 2 for the accused to undergo a preliminary mental observation.

Speaking to

from the rural village, the child’s grandmother, Theni Majozi, described how she was struggling to come to terms with the gruesome manner in which her grandson’s body was found.

She said the boy’s mother did not live with the family.

“The police investigation should dig deeper on how this child went missing at his home while left in the care of his father,” Khoza said.

“This is tragic and the family need to find closure following this murder.”

She called for maximum jail sentences for those convicted of the murder of women and children, as she told how “too many” were being murdered in South Africa.

We call on members of the society to isolate those involved in such gruesome murders,” she added.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula condemned the brutal killing of the innocent child.

“I am glad that the suspect is behind bars for his evil deeds,” he said.
