City centre evacuated after crane seen swaying close to buildings

Buildings have been evacuated, trains are facing delays, and the city centre is experiencing gridlock due to an ‘industrial accident’ involving a crane in Leeds.

Police officers and emergency crews have established a cordon, blocking off a significant section of the city centre in Riverside Way, Leeds.

While the exact nature of the incident is yet to be confirmed, local workers suggest that one of the cranes on a nearby building site has become unsafe and is at risk of toppling over.

Fortunately, no one was in the crane when it became ‘unsafe,’ and as of now, there have been no reported injuries.

In a statement, the police said, ‘Access to the area has been restricted for pedestrians, and road closures have been implemented. As a precaution, several buildings in the area are also being evacuated.’
