Two dogs that mauled an 85-year-old great-grandmother to death in her own back garden on Good Friday have been put down, the police have confirmed.
The tragedy happened in the back garden of Lucille Downer’s home in Boundary Avenue, Rowley Regis, at around 3.20pm on Good Friday, April 2.
And on Sunday afternoon, a West Midlands Police spokesman confirmed: :The ownership of the dogs was voluntarily transferred to police.
“Following specialist advice it was established the dogs could never be rehomed due to the violent act and should be humanely destroyed.
“This has happened although further analysis will take place to determine what breed they were.”
