A 14-year-old girl has been charged following a ‘serious assault’ at a school in Aberdeen which left a younger girl injured.

Emergency services responded to reports of an incident at Hazlehead Academy, a secondary school, at approximately 10.30am yesterday.

A 12-year-old girl was found injured at the scene and was taken to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for treatment. She has since been discharged.

Police have now confirmed that a 14-year-old girl has been charged in connection with the assault. A spokesperson confirmed: ‘A 14-year-old girl has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Groats Road, Aberdeen.

‘The incident happened around 10.30 am on Thursday, 24 April, 2025. A 12-year-old girl was taken to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for treatment and has since been released. ‘The 14-year-old will be reported to the relevant authorities.’
