Eurotunnel trains SUSPENDED due to ‘incident’ on UK side as British Army bomb squad rush to scene

The bomb squad has been deployed to the Eurotunnel in Folkestone, Kent, following the discovery of a “suspicious” vehicle, leading to travel disruptions.

Explosive experts from the British Army are on the scene, and a cordon has been established for public safety.

A man has been detained in connection with the incident, although it is currently not linked to the search for escaped prisoner Daniel Khalife, according to Kent Police. The police provided the following statement: “At around 10.30am on Friday 8 September 2023, a suspicious vehicle was stopped at the Channel Tunnel terminal in Cheriton.

Explosives experts from the British Army have been called to the scene, and a cordon has been put in place for the safety of the public. This is currently having an effect on traffic approaching the terminal. A man has been detained in connection with the incident, and enquiries are ongoing.”

Due to the ongoing investigation, the Eurotunnel has been temporarily closed, resulting in “severe disruption” to travel.
