Heartbreak as young boy died at home on NYE just weeks after his dad

A grieving mum has told of her anguish at discovering her five-year-old son had died just weeks after his father.

Jayden-Jay Silvester suffered an undisclosed medical emergency at his home in Stoke-on-Trent shortly after 4.20pm on New Year’s Eve.

Paramedics treated him at the scene and rushed him to hospital but he was later pronounced dead.

His dad, Jason Silvester, died aged 38 on November 27, leaving behind wife Lisa Jayden-Jay and her other son, Oscar.

Lisa paid tribute to Jayden-Jay as a ‘very loving brother to Oscar, a loving son to Lisa, and a loving son to Jason’.

In a statement, she wrote: ‘JJ attended Newstead Primary Academy and they were his second family who love and miss him along with his school friends who JJ made smile everyday.

‘JJ will be sadly missed and forever in everybody’s thoughts.’

Family and friends have rallied around Lisa and launched a fundraiser online to support her and Oscar.

The organiser, Kayleigh Lambert-Reynolds, said: ‘We can never bring JJ back and never relieve Lisa’s emotional burden but we can all pitch in to try to relieve the financial one to show our support and give Lisa something positive.

‘All donations will go to JJ’s memory as well as his little brother Oscar. I know Lisa is overwhelmed by the messages and support.’

Jason also suffered a medical incident at the family home and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Inquests into both deaths will take place in the coming weeks.
