Frightened passengers escaped an American Airlines plane at San Francisco International Airport on Friday after a fire broke out on board.

The interior of the Airbus jet erupted in flames around 12:15pm PT. Its emergency slides were deployed, and passengers quickly exited the plane, which was parked at a gate at the time. There were no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is unclear, NBC Bay Area reported.

Multiple fire crews responded to the scene of the blaze, which has since been extinguished.

Passengers were seen congregated on the runway after evacuating the plane, with bags filled with belongings also seen strewn nearby.
