An aircraft carrying two individuals has crashed into a holiday park on the Isle of Wight, according to emergency services. Police were called at 2.23pm on Saturday following a report that a light aircraft had crashed at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed that the plane had two people on board. According to the local fire service, both individuals sustained minor injuries in the incident near Bembridge.
Firefighters from Newport and Ryde were dispatched shortly before 2.30pm and, upon arrival, found the aircraft “had suffered extensive damage from the impact and subsequent fire”, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said. “All occupants had safely exited the aircraft before emergency services arrived,” it added.
