Shane Richie was seriously ill in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp – but the scenes didn’t air.
The EastEnders star revealed he lost weight in camp after taking on the grim drinking challenge, with Jessica Plummer, which caused him to become sick.
Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on today’s instalment of This Morning, he opened up about his camp transformation.
The 56-year-old said: ‘I lost just under a stone. Vernon, bless him, has lost two-and-a-half stone and he’s 8’2”.
‘I lost weight because after I did the drinking challenge, 12 hours later, I was really ill. Thankfully they didn’t show it on telly because I didn’t want my family getting upset.
‘I thought I was going to have to see a doctor. I had a few tablets and I had a dodgy stomach. So that’s kind of where I lost my weight.’
It wasn’t just viewers who noticed the change, with Shane’s campmates also commenting on his weight loss.
‘After a while, everyone’s saying: “Shane you’re looking… How can we catch that bug off you?” So after a while, people were trying to hug me to catch this bug I had,’ he continued.
‘I’ve come back and dropped two dress sizes, which is great!’
Shane did his fair share of trials during the series, but the most gruesome one was the Sickening Stalls with Jessica – which hosts Ant and Dec branded one of the funniest challenges they’d ever seen.
It wasn’t hilarious for the Alfie Moon actor, who was sick for three days after downing grim cocktails full of fermented duck eggs, blended fish eyes and pig vagina.
Chatting to Ant and Dec on his exit, he admitted: ‘My stomach for three days, I was a mess.
’I remember walking out one time going to the toilet, whether it was wind or water, excuse me if you’re watching.
‘Then going back to bed and then coming back out 10 minutes later and it was sunshine and I was thinking, “What time is it?” I was a mess for three days.’
