A Hamilton man has been convicted of murdering his mother in her flat in 2020.
Craig Haley was found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow today, with jurors hearing he left his mother “with at least” 55 injuries following the attack at her home.
The 37-year-old was sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in prison.
Mary Haley was found with serious head and facial injuries around 4.30pm on February 9 last year, having been punched, kicked, dragged, strangled and bludgeoned with an ashtray suffered.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics on Dalziel Street, Hamilton.
Haley then fled and it was another son of Mary who made the grim find of her body the next day.
Carefree Haley meantime was caught on camera buying alcohol and a packet of crisps after the killing.
He was convicted on Wednesday of murder following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
Lord Sandison imposed a life sentence for what he called “ferocious and sustained violence”.
Haley smirked as he was lead handcuffed to the cells.
