A pensioner has passed away following a collision with a truck in the town centre of Lanark, Scotland. Emergency services swiftly responded to the incident on High Street at approximately 2:50 pm yesterday.
Tragically, an 83-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the Mercedes lorry emerged from the incident unharmed.
To facilitate an investigation, the road was temporarily closed and reopened at approximately 7:30 pm.
Sergeant Gemma Blackadder, from the Road Policing Unit based in Motherwell, expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased during this challenging time.”
“We are actively working to ascertain the complete circumstances that led to this incident, and I encourage anyone with information to come forward and assist us in our inquiries.”
