A murder investigation has been launched after a 57-year-old man was killed and a woman and child were seriously injured in a knife attack. Detectives said the attack took place at a home on Hartfield Avenue in Brighton, East Sussex, at around 7:30 am on Tuesday morning.
A 19-year-old was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and serious assaults and was taken into police custody for questioning. A spokesman for Sussex Police said: ‘We have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Brighton. Officers attended and found a 57-year-old man inside the property with significant injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
‘A woman and a boy were also located at the address with serious injuries and have been taken to hospital for treatment. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.’
A post-mortem examination will be carried out on the murdered man’s body, and an inquest will be opened later by the East Sussex Coroner. The victims have not yet been named by police.
