A paramedic who lost his life in a tragic crash while responding to an emergency was attended to by his fellow colleagues at the scene, who have been deeply affected by the incident.

Tinesh Tamilkodi, 38, died at an intersection in Forrestdale, 30 km south-east of Perth, when he lost control of the ambulance he was driving around 1.30 am on Tuesday.

The emergency vehicle spun out of control and collided with a tree, resulting in critical injuries for Mr Tamilkodi.

Having served as an ambulance officer for 10 years, he was a clinical support paramedic with St John Ambulance WA.

His fellow paramedics made desperate efforts to save him, but he could not be revived.
