UK lawyer suspended for ‘unacceptable’ tweet about baby Lilibet and ‘black names’

A UK family lawyer has been suspended after posting tweets mocking the name of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new arrival.

Joanna Toch, 59, took to Twitter to mock the baby’s name after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they’ve named her Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor to honour the Queen and Princess Diana.

The practising barrister from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, suggested the name was a snub at Meghan’s mother while also mocking the Black Lives Matter movement with her play on words.

She tweeted: “No Doria? Don’t black names matter?”

Her post was in response to journalist Julie Burchill who has herself been widely denounced for posting: “What a missed opportunity. They could have called it Georgina Floydina!”

The comment references George Floyd, who was murdered by police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis just over a year ago.
