A Target employee has been fired after allegedly making a drink in an in-store Starbucks that was prepared with bleach, ice and what they called “the blood of innocent black men”.
The TikTok video, made by Van Greyson Heart inside a Target branch in Nora, Indiana, had the song ‘All I want for Christmas is a Few Dead Cops’ playing in the background.
In the footage, Greyson – who is not seen on screen – is heard narrating their special recipe for the beverage they concocted exclusively for supporters of police.
“Hi guys, I updated my recipe for the Blue Lives Matter drinks,” Greyson is heard saying in the beginning of the clip.
The employee then adds “the blue ingredient that Starbucks has,” and blends it with some bleach and ice.
The blue liquid is served with a straw, “because they [police] only think about themselves,” the employee says in the video.
The employee identified as the TikTok creator worked at Target and was not employed directly by Starbucks.
“This video is appalling and unacceptable,” a spokesperson for Target said in a statement.
“We don’t tolerate this behavior at Target, we want all guests to be treated with respect and are terminating the team member who is responsible.
“We also have rigorous food safety procedures in place, which this team member egregiously violated with this behavior.
“We’re deeply sorry for this disturbing video, which TikTok has removed based on the platform’s guidelines.”
A spokesperson for Target said that after talking to the employee, they determined the drink had not been served to a guest.
They also said they do not believe actual bleach was used in the making of the drink – but rather a combination of milk, water and colouring.
The video has since been removed from TikTok following breaches of the app’s community guidelines.
However, it continues to be shared on social media.
