A devastating incident unfolded as an 18-month-old boy tragically drowned in a backyard pool while other children were playing nearby.
The toddler was discovered face down in the pool in Perth’s southern suburbs on Sunday.
Adults administered CPR before paramedics arrived, swiftly transporting the boy to Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch, a Perth suburb.
Despite the efforts, doctors were unable to revive the toddler, as reported by Perth Now. A spokesperson from WA Police described the drowning as a tragic accident.
Amid alarming statistics revealing that 27 children under the age of five drown annually in Australia, a new pool safety campaign was launched last week.
