An individual has lost their life in a significant incident on train tracks in Yorkshire this morning.

Emergency services were dispatched to the railway tracks near Pope Street in the Lower Altofts area of Wakefield.

Eyewitnesses reported the presence of multiple vehicles at the scene, including three ambulances and fire engines.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service informed MailOnline that they responded to an incident in the vicinity at approximately 10 am this morning.

The British Transport Police conveyed to The Mirror: ‘Officers from the British Transport Police were summoned to the railway lines in the Normanton area of Wakefield at 10:10 this morning in response to reports of an individual on the tracks. Paramedics were also in attendance; however, regrettably, an individual was pronounced dead at the scene.’
